This apartment is the lovechild of old-world charm and contemporary sensibilities.
The key elements the dup kept in mind for the design are intriguing, “The original floor plan of the 3BHK apartment envisaged a large open living-cum-dining space which we retained to maintain the apartment’s spaciousness. Capitalizing on the L-shaped living area, we introduced a wooden swing into the apartment. In the dining space, we opted for three chairs and a 3-seater wood-and-wicker bench, not only adding to the aesthetic appeal but also minimizing spatial clutter in a tight space. Since the apartment is largely an empty nest, with the grown children living in other cities, we designed each bedroom to serve dual functions. While every bedroom has been furnished with cots and bedside tables, the master bedroom also has a foldable workstation; the second bedroom serves as a reading room with its large rosewood table and an heirloom planter’s chair. The guest bedroom doubles up as an entertainment / TV room. The family needed a lot of storage space to accommodate their belongings. So we planned the furniture layout and kitchen design to maximize storage space. Since the bedrooms were small, we customized the size of beds in the rooms to allow free flow of movement.”
